Francis House Rainbow Trust

Kirsty Howard is 4 years old and only has a few weeks left to live. She is one in 60 Million children who suffer from a condition that is so rare that it doesn't even have a name. She was was born with her heart back to front and with one, instead of two pumping chambers. She also has abnormal blood vessels in her lungs. After nine operations, surgeons can do nothing else to help Kirsty and she is slowly wasting away at Francis House children's Hospice.

Kirsty recently celebrated her 4th birthday at Francis House. It was a milestone her family did no expect her to reach - and one they know marks the end of the road in Kirsty's brave fight.

Her Mum, Dad and sisters, Lynn, Steve, Zoe and Kim fought back tears as they watched her open her presents and a huge soft Barney the Dinosaur toy here favourite cartoon character.

Kirsty's Mum, Lynn said "It breaks our hearts to thinks I'll never see her grow up." Dad Stephen says "We get by as best we can and everyday is a blessing."

Lynn and Stephen hope that "through the campaign, she will touch other hearts and help raise money to keep the hospice open. We know our little girl may be dead before people get to know her face on the posters and it breaks my heart to think of losing her, but if Kirsty can help other children after her death it will be a wonderful tribute."

Kirsty is a Manchester United fan because "My favourite colour is red."
